The Drums are a New York pop outfit made up of Jonathan Pierce (Vocals), Jacob Graham (Guitar), Adam Kessler (Guitar) and Connor Hanwick (Drums). This is the sort of unbelievably saccharine pop that I wouldn't even force upon my worst enemies, although making a prisoner listen to this two-track single would be an extremely effective form of torture. I'd start talking before the end of the first track. I'd be begging them to turn it off.Suffice to say that I don't like this single, and doubtless I'd also hate anything else that they recorded. It's not all bad news for The Drums however as other reviewers have described them as "New York's official Coolest New Band"..."The best new rock'n'roll band in town." And said that they can "Effortlessly mix two disparate styles - Joy Division's brooding, post-punk vibe and a strong dose of Dick Dale - into a jumpy, three-minute jam that's catchier the H1N1"
We'll let you make up your own mind on this one. It could well be a love it or hate it, Marmite thing, that The Drums have got going on. |
